Groundline Press publishes thoughtful nonfiction about technology, work, learning and the changing systems around us.

We are interested in books that take complicated subjects seriously without making them unnecessarily complicated. That means following the evidence, acknowledging uncertainty, and writing for readers who want to think rather than readers who want to be reassured.

The name refers to the ground line in drawing and architecture: the baseline from which everything else is measured. We think that is a reasonable aspiration for nonfiction—to find a stable place to stand before making claims about what is above or below it.
